The client is an American, market-leading cloud-based innovative solution that allows suppliers and buyers to connect and do business on a single platform. It improves over all vendor management system of an organization by providing less costly ways of procurement and making business simple.
Due to the fact the entire development was made in the US, there was a lack of expertise/local knowledge in the European legal invoicing which hampers the expansion. Along with the lack of enough resources and the old technological stack, the company’s progress was quite slow at the beginning, with no frequent delivery.
The client’s ultimate goal was to develop new functionality in the solution.
To reach this goal, the following objectives were formed: 1) to find a trustworthy European partner, and 2) to build a team that is stable and reliable and where knowledge and skills are obtained and not easily lost due to the high turnover of people.
A set of agile KPIs, such as sprint deliveries and code quality, were developed as the best match for the project’s goals.
The skilled team that was assembled went through detailed initial training to get introduced to the company’s business case. This is currently applied for newcomers to ensure excellent performance, which naturally leads to the steady growth of the team.
The chosen work approach was a development on-demand where, unlike in the traditional offshore outsourcing model, the resources consist of a dedicated team, who serve functionally like a company’s internal employees, just not collocated. The transparent communications processes and better labor rates are just some of the reasons for choosing this work approach.
Further, there is a structure of three Scrum software product development teams of 24 people in total and a Delivery manager, responsible for the time and technical management of the project.
The implemented strategies significantly lowered the people turnover rate. Due to the current healthy work climate, the client is now constantly investing in the employees’ knowledge and skills advancement and this sustains the workforce motivated and satisfied.
